It was bigger than all the ants around, and was being chased by 2 flying insects for a long time. Either they were mating or attacking. Not sure. I don't think they were attacking though, which leads me to believe they were males trying to mate with her. She has been messing with her butt a lot in the tube which I heard is a good sign..

So, is she a queen? And if so, do you know what kind? Found in Midland, TX.

That's one beautiful mutilid wasp! Wish I could find one.
Come down to Midland, TX. I've found 5 in 2 days... Lmfao. Before I even knew what they were!
