Hello,
I found this alate queen today, unsure of wether or not she will lay eggs. I would love to know what species of ant this is and if there are other ways of determining wether or not she has mated.
Found in Calgary, AB, Canada, she is about 5-6mm long with red tinged legs.
Found near a pond on a very windy day (august 20 2019)

Hey there,
Just a wild guess at this point, but could she be Formica fusca? https://antwiki.org/wiki/Formica_fusca or maybe another formica species? This link should be helpful to narrow down the list https://antwiki.org/wiki/Canada
