Found today in new york at 330 pm under a rock with brood and workers. Really small I believe like 1.5mm

a clearer pic of the head would help, but from this pic, it looks like a termite of sorts. a better pic will tell for sure.

Ya saw it laying eggs on the side there. I'm hoping that because I can see the thorax clear and a thin waste before the abdomen means she is an ant and not termite but this is my first spring anting so I dont kno haha. Thanks for the help tho

That is interesting and I never thought of species like that here but then again ants are pretty widespread so who knows what one may find ;)

Ah yes looked that up finally see something familiar thank you! :D tiny little guys wish I was able to get them separated from the rest of the soil to observe them better haha
