Help Ripping up cotton
My camponotus queen who has a few workers and around 12 eggs keeps ripping into the cotton in her tube and piling it through the tube even though she is in a tub tube set up. It’s making a mess and makes me worry about the eggs what should I do?
Re: Help Ripping up cotton
If you are worried about it you can try to get ride of the extra cotton she has pulled out.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony

Except she keeps pulling at it... I’m worried about stressing her and her eating the eggs.. any ideals how I’d go about it? I tried placing another tube set up in the tub and covering it to entice them to move but they didn’t
Re: Help Ripping up cotton
Is she ripping the water cotton? If she is not she should be fine, she is just doing a little redecorating. If she is pulling at the water cotton having another test tube beside her is a good idea.

Yes it is the water cotton
Re: Help Ripping up cotton
im having a some what similar issue with my winter ants one of my queens keeps pulling at the top of the cotton to form ledges in it, worried she might cause a water leak, so i was starting to consider placing the test tube on an angle.
