Re: Pheidole Super-Majors
I mean if ants can have alate eggs why cant they have super major and major eggs. Protein theory will work as far as the size of workers isnt fixed. For eg. solenopsis have different sized workers where as most phiedoli and carebara have specific sized worker where major are a fixed size.
Ants I have-
camponotus compressus colony- the shadow warriors.
Pls just let me have a tetramorium colony

true. all theories must have a limit.... probably.Antloverhuman wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 7:56 amI mean if ants can have alate eggs why cant they have super major and major eggs. It’s a debate since they first though it depended on protein. Maybe the protein and fats the queen gets?AntsAntsAnts wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 1:26 amtrue. all theories must have a limit.... probably.Antloverhuman wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 7:56 amI mean if ants can have alate eggs why cant they have super major and major eggs. i think the queen does something to them so they become alates...SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 6:46 amIt’s a debate since they first though it depended on protein. Well, only science in a few years will determine that. I think experiments support and deny both theories so it is kind of a large debate. For example, one could say the queen lays no infertile (if mated)eggs and the workers do that for her to make males.AntsAntsAnts wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 10:17 pmi think the queen does something to them so they become alates...SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 6:46 amIt’s a debate since they first though it depended on protein.
