Have you not been giving them protein? They need protein to survive. The best source of protein is insects, and it is recommended that their main protein source be form insects. However, if it is absolutely not an option for you, you can try to keep them alive on things like cooked meat, cooked egg yolk, fish food, ect.abunyil wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2017 5:04 amhi everyone, i have a queen ant with 4 workers[1 died yesterday] living in a test tube and at first,i feed them a drop of sugar water every day and they drinked it but then, they started rejecting it and they suddenly looked weak. yesterday, one of the worker became extremely weak and died. I don't know if it died due to the sugar, because it died of age[it was only 2 weeks old], or maybe because it needed more protein. If the cause of this is actually because of lack of protein, please suggest a protein source for them[try to suggest a protein source other than insects].
Thanks for your help
Is there any other protein source other than insects?

Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Well insects are easily the easiest and best protein for ants (well in my experience at least). But you can always give them stuff like seeds, nuts, meats (such as ham or mince) or even like peanut butter. But of course if you have a picky colony they might not accept these sort of foods.

They might just be at a stage of growth in which they don't need a lot of food.
