The most humane way to kill feeders

I only have 1 ant colony, which is currently just a queen and some brood, but I am in possession of a fruit fly culture. I was just wondering, are there any types of ways that I could kill a fruit fly for feeding painlessly? Basically, what is the most human way that I can kill my feeders?
(btw, sorry for the 4th question this week)

I put my fruit fly in the fridge. Seems to be the best way for me.
