Fruit Flys
Do any of you guys know how to catch fruit Flys I have a year old carpenter ant colony that I bought through the gan project and I'm worrying that my mealworms won't be big enough thanks in advance
Re: Fruit Flys
Buy fruits, let em rot in your kitchen, enjoy your fruit fly infestation haha
Talking by experience.. has had it happen to me a couple of times.

Re: Fruit Flys
How do you catch them though ?
Re: Fruit Flys
Maybe get one of those electric rackets that you wave around to electrocute them? They should drop on the floor after.
I was joking though, I'm 100% sure you don't want a bunch of fruit flies at home..

Ok well thanks anyway
Re: Fruit Flys
Hi,
You can use an empty jar or a bottle, add few pieces of fruit and you can also get a little of dry yeast (the one used to make bread) dissolved in water and add few drops along with the fruits. Then make a paper funnel with a small opening at the end. Place the funnel in the jar. You have a fruit flies trap!

I'm pretty sure fruit Flys are almost 100 percent safe AntsCanada said they're safe and many people use them as well
Re: Fruit Flys
Fruitflies are a lot smaller than mealworms so you'd need quite a lot of them. Your local pet store can probably set you up with some flightless fruitflies, which you can then breed at home so you have a steady supply of them.
