Do Tetramorium sp. E need protein?

I have recently been caring for a Tetramorium sp. E colony, and I have recently fed them only Carbohydrates and fruit for the past week. They were resonably large and now with the carbohydrate diet they have still exploded in population. I don't know if they could last off only carbohydrates. What should I do?
