Where can i get mealworms ?
Hi, does anyone know where I could get some mealworms? I have Petco and a Petsmart close by, should I get some from one of those places?

If they sell mealworms you should get them.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]

Flukes sells some, you would have to compare pricing. When I I buy from petco, they tell me not to feed the worms… then they die… I buy from a place called family reptile. Not sure if it is in LA

Of course you "don't have to" feed them if you just throw them straight into the fridge at 6°C or whatever. They can easily handle it and they don't start smelling. If you feed them, throw in things like carrots. Vegetables that don't contain a lot of water which could spill and make a mess.SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 5:09 pmFlukes sells some, you would have to compare pricing. But I can assure you, mealworms can just stay in the fridge for most of their live until you throw them into the ant nest / setup for feeding purposes.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

I was referring to superworms, sorry, but my supplier also sells those. I think it is a great supplier for ant feeders in the US.AntsLuxembourg wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 4:06 amOf course you "don't have to" feed them if you just throw them straight into the fridge at 6°C or whatever.
