In my lasius niger outworld should I cover the ground with compost soil or sand?

sand would be safer if you wanted them not to nest in it. plus it's more mold resistant. If your growing plants you want compost
almost one year of ant keeping :D

a restarting camponotus queen
one crematogaster queen
and a bunch of lasius umbratus queens (to lazy to count them all) :lol:
