Why can't I make a formicarium out of sanded grout?

Why can't I make a formicarium out of sanded grout?
I have extra sanded grout from another project, and I am wondering why that will not work.
With all the things ants can do, you wonder, who rules the planet

A. alot harder to work with.
b. very coarse for the ants.
c. will more than likely scratch any glass that comes into contact with it.
d. it takes a very long time to cure as apposed to unsanded.
e. it is much harder to control moisture and such.
thats about all i got on that subject. lol
side note: never use premixed grout, it has polymers and stuff that are toxic to ants.
