Queen Replacement?
Hey guys! I haven't posted in a long time, not much goes on during the winter season. Only my solenopsis invicta colony continues on as normal in the winter. I guess they're not big on hybernation. Recently, the queen of the colony died. I'm not big on losing an entire ant colony, so I decided to introduce a fertile queen that I caught earlier this year. To my surprise, the ants fully accepted her as the new queen and are caring for her and her brood! Is this a strange behavior that is only practiced by solenopsis invicta species of ant? Or have any of you guys experienced something similar? Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas. Thanks!!!

Re: Queen Replacement?
Intresting... A solenopsis queen behaving like a parasitic queen. I'll do some research about this. Maybe it's a new thing that the solenopsis spiecies has evolved.
