Queen Replacement?

Hey guys! I haven't posted in a long time, not much goes on during the winter season. Only my solenopsis invicta colony continues on as normal in the winter. I guess they're not big on hybernation. Recently, the queen of the colony died. I'm not big on losing an entire ant colony, so I decided to introduce a fertile queen that I caught earlier this year. To my surprise, the ants fully accepted her as the new queen and are caring for her and her brood! Is this a strange behavior that is only practiced by solenopsis invicta species of ant? Or have any of you guys experienced something similar? Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas. Thanks!!! :D

Intresting... A solenopsis queen behaving like a parasitic queen. I'll do some research about this. Maybe it's a new thing that the solenopsis spiecies has evolved.
