New Myrmica colony
I captured a very young Myrmica colony with 2 workers. I believe they are Myrmica americana, yet I am not sure. I named the queen Quemadura Oscura (Dark Burn). Is their care relatively the same as Myrmica rubra, that I've heard so much about?

Re: New Myrmica colony
Caught another M.americana colony the way AntsCanada caught his. It had about 400 workers and 5 queens, yet 3 queens and 150 workers escaped when I was changing their setup and it came apart, spilling it's contents all over the floor. That leaves 250 workers and 2 queens. The original colony had 400-500 workers. How old is it? Can they get as big as Myrmica rubra?

They seem to filling the test tube I gave them with dirt, and flooding it, so they moved into the tube. I will try and fill their outworld with dirt and make it a naturalistic setup. I have them in what Ants Australia calls a "tubs and tubes setup".

They don't seem to forage and just sit around inside the nest. The workers look gorged with honey so I think they're full.

I moved them to a test tube and only counted around 80 or so workers and 1 queen.
