I've tried it, yet AntsCanada said that every ant species has it's own pheramonal language. That trick probably only works on that particular ant species, which to me looks like either Monomorium minimum or Tapinoma sessile.

Wont the mixture just make the ants leave? I mean when it floods the queen it would make her want to find a new nest because of the acidity of the mixture.

i have lots of things to say about this video. First it would probably work because it is most likely not the pharamones of the lemon that make them move it is the acidity of the lemon and the water. The problems are that it might be considered a little unethical to some because the rest of the colony would be dead and that if the nest is a satellite nest the queen would not be in it.

Bad idea. First, this colony seemed established taking the queen would cause the queen to die because she's way past the founding stage. Secondly, catching the queen and no brood or workers, the queen won't survive on her own. Lastly, if this is a smaller species the queen could possibly drown and die. In all, I really wouldn't use that method.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

Just because you take a queen from her colony doesn't mean you can't take workers and brood with her. (Not saying that that is the best method either.)

Doubt it. Most ant larvae drown easily. When I had Lasius ants, I once put a small drop of water in their test tubes but some of the larvae got in it and died.
