I found a carpenter ant queen
I think she is pregnant because her gaster is big and she’s licking it a lot! She maybe my only successful queen after 1 year!

Re: I found a carpenter ant queen
I just caught one as well, and her gaster looks large too. She was trying to dig down in the cotton, and not out. Could this all mean she's mated and trying to dig a founding chamber? Also, she still has her wings, and if she is mated I hope she keeps them, since she can be distinguished from her future super majors more quickly, and it just looks good on her. Re: I found a carpenter ant queen
she could be needing water since the cotton is too dry or yes she could just be going by instinct. Beware though because this might lead to a flooded test tube if she digs too far. try pushing in the cotton a little bit more to make it more moist and see what happens.

Re: I found a carpenter ant queen
As much as I love my queen, isn't this topic supposed to be about Ltislander's queen?
