Re: Ant Nest Casting
Kind of cruel for the colony but peculiar and great way to study ants' nest structure.
Re: Ant Nest Casting
For its original idea of pouring concrete in it and then digging it up to see how the structure of the nest was I thought it was a great idea. But now that its a "cool" thing to do and also everyone's trying to make money off of it as "Art" I think its stupid and very destructive!

Agree with you madvampy specially when they pour molten aluminum down the hole
Re: Ant Nest Casting
pretty cruel to me, but very cool. think about if we did one with a fast drying clear silicone or something similar. then you could kind of pause what was happening in the nest as it was poured.

Re: Ant Nest Casting
actually that would probably be the most humane of all because it would kill them instantly instead of them having to struggle a little in the cement before dying.Sylorocks68 wrote:Agree with you madvampy specially when they pour molten aluminum down the hole
Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
