Ant? Queen?

Hey I found this Insect and am unsure what it is, the Thorax or middle part appears to be large and have wing scars, any help is appreciated!

I live just outside of Boston Massachusetts and found the insect in the road in the middle of the woods

Man, we need better pics... But, looking at the colour and shape of its gaster, i would say not an ant.... Looks like a wasp

Looks like a velvant ant. Go far away from your house and release that thing it has the 3rd most painful sting in the world

I agree with most others on this thread. Its gaster is oddly shaped, and it's most likely not an ant.

Not an ant. I live North of Boston and I have found these a couple times while anting.

Not an ant, but not a velvet ant either, most likely some other non-winged wasp. Velvet ants are very fuzzy, and that appears smooth and shiny

Just to point out, velvet ants are actually wasps.
