Hi so I live just outside of Boston Massachusetts and just last night caught an ant, I was wondering 1)if she is a queen and 2) what species? I'm having trouble deciding if she is a queen or just a large major any help is appreciated in total she is just over half an inch long! Some links to pics below

Camponotus pennsylvanicus queen.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.

Wow, so still flying for New England is Camponotus. Nice catch.

Us New England Anters have our own MA anting thread on Formiculture. It's pretty active you should check it out: http://www.formiculture.com/topic/4877-massachusetts-anting-thread/page-33#entry67392

I'm in Northern MA close to Boston so it would be nice to keep in touch :)
