Sadly, there are no Cephalotes in Indiana. There is, however, a species of fungus farmer: Trachymyrmex septentrionalis.

Possibly. They seem to top out at around you latitude. Most likely in sandy soils in the Southern part of our state, though.

They fly from May to August.

Fair warning, though: They aren't a common species here in Indiana.

Y'all have awesome ants. Here in Oregon, we have no cool ants at all. Our coolest ants are probably Tetramorium.
Colonies:
--Tetramorium Caespitum
--Camponotus pennsylvanicus
--Formica Sp.

Nope. You've got honeypots (Myrmecocystus testaecus, M. kennedyi, M. pyramicus, M. semirufus), four species of harvesters from the genera Veromessor and Pogonomyrmex, and the invasive ant, Myrmica rubra.

I got this information from a site called antmaps, here's the link: http://antmaps.org/?.

Just click on oregon on the map, and you'll see a list of the 100+ species native to your state.

But a lot of those live in the eastern section where it's more arid and dry. I live on the west close to the coast.
