Insect Collecting?

I recently heard of the hobby of insect collecting. I have not started the hobby. The hobby involves freezing insects and mounting them and then going on to ID them. I am wondering how everyone feels about the topic of killing them, do you think it is humane. Thanks! :D
With all the things ants can do, you wonder, who rules the planet :?

Look, I am an ant keeper and i love my little ants, but the fact is that they are just bugs! Jesus created them so that we would enjoy them whether that be keeping, (in some countries eating) or displaying them. I think displays are interesting and a good way to learn. I would recomend killing them quickly though.

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

IDing them before you pin them might be a good idea. There are certain insects that are protected by law and if you're in Germany and nail a Formica rufa worker to your collection you might get into serious trouble.
