Moving ants from the nest back to the test tube
I have a Messor Structor colony with a healthy queen, about 25-26 workers, 1 pupae and about 15 eggs with some larvae. Quite good. But I was wondering.. Because I did this big mistake. And put the into the nest ( which btw is an acrylic ant nest with a small arena) to soon with about 30 workers and about 20 died, in the winter. Also not only did I do that as a big big dumb @ss but ALSO kind of forced them, AND I REGRET IT A LOT REALLY, I feel bad. And don't get any brutal ideas like picked them on by one and squished them or something. No, I just put their put their test tube against the entrance of the nest. But I wondered now.. Can I put the back in the test tube of course normally ( without forcing them again). By putting a flash light in front of them and waiting till they get in the dark test tube, or is that impossible. Thanks to whoever answers .
New to ant keeping, keeping a Messor structor colony. Also I have 2 camponotus queens and what seems, 2 tetramorium queens

That could work but you will have to leave the light there for a long wile.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]
