Does the omni nest large have a "tunnel" to put a heating cable? The info on the description is lacking. How many portals are there for test tubes or portals?

No it does not have one. You would just have to place it under or over the nest somewhere of your choosing. There is one hole for connecting poly-tubing and one hole that can be used as an exit to the included outworld. This exit is specifically for the outworld when the outworld is physically attached to the nest.

So the out world is not connected via tubbing like the omni vertical? You wouldn't happen to have a pic or a link to a video?

5 seconds using google image search:

The outworld gets mounted on the upper part of the omni nest. The outworld then has one (usually plugged) hole that can be used to attach more tubing.

No problem :D

If choose you add a bottom substrate layer to the outworld (like sand-clay mix or grout) remember to plug the nest entrance with a strap of tape so the paste doesn't flow into the nest part (better do it before you mount the outworld part to the nest part). Unless you choose a super hard substrate you can then easily make a breakthrough after the substrate dried out and hardened by removing the tape and using something hard like a screwdriver to pierce through to the entrance, so the ants can move into the nest.

You can have it separated from the nest. just stick tubing in the nest, and join it to the outworld. I would prefer this so that I don't have to peer through the outworld into the chambers. Here is a link to some pictures on a dudes website of an omni. in a few of them you can see that its separated and connected via tubing.
