Weird white fuzz? What happened?
What happened to my queens? They were fine just a few days ago. I put them in a clean container, but now they all their joints are covered with some white fungus looking substance. Are the rest of my queen contaminated maybe?

Definitely looks like they were attacked by parasitic fungus.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.

Umm try to pull that fungus off the queens and try not hurting them and put them in another container

Same thing happened to me. I put my newly captured Camponotus sp. in a test tube and when I checked on her the next day she was covered in that white fungus and clinging to the wet cotton.

Yeah I disposed them a little while after making the post, can't be good to keep them around. I'm a little worried the others will be attacked by the same parasite
