No Local Ant Farmers

Hi this is my first post on AntsCanada, And I am writing about a problem. I live in North Dakota a state that has no ant farmers through the GAN project. I am wanting to start my first ant farm so bad! But I just can't find a queen, so what do you propose I do, I just want a colony that wouldn't be hard for a starting ant keeper.

I haven't seen many queens around lately. This is immoral to most ant keepers but you could look for holes made by founding queens and dig them up. I wouldn't recommend digging up a mature colony but I don't see a problem with a queen that is still founding. As long as you offer her some protein or collect her brood.
