Hello! I was wanting to know what colony of the three listed above would be your favorite to keep! Thanks.

Camponotus novaeboracensis, although I do love my Formica, so if you had to add a fourth to the mix, it would be that.

Pretty cool! Yeah, Camponotous novaeboracensis is one of my favorites too. I wish I could keep formica, but right now I live in North Dakota so no can do. Only thing I don't like about novaeboracensis is how long it takes, like 2 years, before you start seeing many ants. It takes like 1 year to see 20-50. They lay eggs in batches. But when the colony gets up to size it gets really cool.

To be honest, I would have to go with Lasius niger, or a closely related species like L. alienus. I tend to like the smaller ants better (No, not becuase the large ones are "scary"). A simple, plain example of an ecologically important, native ant species is what I like best.
