Moving Ants

Hey y'all,

so I'm pretty new to ant keeping (please keep that in mind). I've found a rotten piece of wood about 10x10 inches with a Tetramorium colony in it, I believe they're in hibernation. I guess there's about 50-100 workers. I've ordered a hybrid nest, but I don't know How to move them. Do I crack the wood open? I need a hand.

Thanks!

There aren't really any Tetramorium in Sydney. ;)

Sydney is in a temperate zone, though I don't know if that will affect weather or not ants in your area will hibernate.

@Martialis The Wood was actually from Queensland I believe but I'm not too sure. Tetramorium is just my guess.

@AntOblivion Thanks for the advice, I'll wait to nuptial flight and see how that goes!

Okay, still no Tetramorium there.

Maybe post an ID request?
