So I have two of my colonies that are in test tubes, placed in outer worlds with honey water test tubes next to them. The ants seem to enjoy it and visit it frequently. Problem is mold is growing on them already and it's only been about a week since they've been in there. Should i change the cotton every few days or just let the mold stay?

Honey water ferments. After a point you're asking for trouble if you don't clean and replace it completely.
