Illinois Ant locations and/or GAN farmers
Hello guys I live in illinois and I'm looking to acquire a Prenolepis imparis and Trachymyrmex septentrionalis colony. I'm hoping to find locations where flights are know to occur and get in as close proximity to those areas as I can. Currently waiting for Prenolepis imparis flights and hoping to catch a queen or two of the false honeypot ants. I'm currently living in Belleville Illinois right out St. Louis Missouri so any help from anyone in the area familiar with this species would be greatly appreciated.
I'm hoping if the rain subsides for a few days that there will be nuptial flights in my area.
As for Trachymyrmex septentrionalis goes... I have no idea where to start. I really am interested in a fungus growing species and that's the only one I've heard ranges in my state so getting a good idea where they'd be would help immensely

Never heard of a fungal growing species in Illinois, I live around the Chicago suburbs, it’s too late for prenolepis right now but tell me more about the fungal ants.

I live in the same area and was wondering what luck you had?
I’m just starting to get into ant keeping and fear my interest has started too late in the year to find any queens. Is that true in the Belleville area?

They're basically just northern leafcutter ants, based on this article.

Very last entry has the species in question as documented in Illinois? Contradicting your previous comment of there not being any fungus farming species.AntCompetitors wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 1:20 pmhttps://www.antweb.org/taxonomicPage.do?rank=species&adm1Name=Illinois&countryName=United%20States&images=trueNKantsalberta wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 4:08 pmhttps://antwiki.org/wiki/Trachymyrmex_septentrionalis#Distribution
