Why are there so many componotus queens??

So i live in Querétaro near the center of México and tonight i spotted at least 7 alive queens and another 5 or 6 bodies of queens and the thing is that i only spot them at night... So my question is why are there so many camponotus queens at night? Sorry for my lame english too.

Queen fly at night to start colonies. Colonies will release thousands of queens to start new colonies. Onyl a few survive to become queens of a mature colony
