Vancouver - Camponotus Flights

I just caught a winged Camponotus Queen and I'm trying to decide if I should let her fly or keep her.

Feels like they just took to the air because I saw 3 within the same block. I know AntsCanada says, "Catch them even if they still have wings." but I feel bad if she hasn't mated yet...

WHAT DO I DO!?

Also, SHE'S YUGE! I'm so excited - she's my first Camponotus!

keep her unless you literally caught her at the nest entrance. i once had a queen go month without shedding her wings and she still had 2-3 workers.

Thanks! That's shocking to hear, but good advice... I wasn't sure how far from the nest I had to go. I see some scattered workers once in a while in my area, but definitely know we're not near a nest entrance.

also if she is infertile and dies or you release her because of infertility i just think that we gave them a good chance of survival compared to the outside.
