I live near Reno, NV. Kind of a desert in most areas.
So far the only time I've found a queen walking around has been at night. Otherwise I've only caught queens that were either digging their claustral chamber, or they were already dug in, and I had to dig them out.
Generally, with desert species, is the only time to catch them finding a place to dig at night? If you have experience with catching desert species, what were your tactics in catching them?
What time to find queens in the desert.

Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
