I've been going on daily walks, a lot of ant activity, but no alates yet! Soon! Its been feeling like queen weather, just a little to cold I think at this point. Hopefully soon we can get reliably into the 60s!

60s and 70s next week, get your gear ready.
As if it wasn't already, only been waiting 9 months.

Re: Ant Watch Western Washington
1 Formica sp. Queen today. 6 PM Ravensdale, 65 F.
I also saw multiple males on the outside of the thatch ant nests. I would guess they will fly this week.

Re: Ant Watch Western Washington
Ya, Leave Seattle. Next Tuesday or Wednesday when it warms up again, we will be having some major flights of several species. Try to find some time in the evening when it is the hottest, to be near tree's and grass. Carry something to catch ants in at all times.

Re: Ant Watch Western Washington
I found 2 Soleonopsis Queens here in West Seattle down on Alki beach!!! Wings were gone and they were being swarmed by pavement ants, but I heroically charged in and protected the Queens!!! I now have them set up in the Royal Chambers, and as soon as they were put in they immediate began to relax and clean themselves...
God Save the Queen(s)!
