Ant Watch Texas
Hey there every one! figured id start a thread to sort of keep an eye out on any queens that might of been caught in the state of Texas. This is my first time diving into the world of Ants, and wanted to hear from others out there in my area. It just rained here in the DFW area, so i will keep y'all posted if i find anything. hoping to spot a Prenolepis imparis. wish me luck

Had my first ant walk yesterday and was super excited to find a C. Pennsylvanicus. Sadly, after posting for an ID here, found out that it was a major. Going out again today. I'll keep my eye on this thread unless you know of a better one for Texas.

Lucky..I can’t even find workers that aren’t RIFA...but having a pool is like a huge advantage in looking for queens. Lucky for me, I have one! So I have found 3 Tetramorium queens and some kind of queen that looks like a Argentine ant queen or a Nylanderia queen. Anybody in Houston find anything?

I found a Pogonomyrmex queen while at a park picnic table in Amarillo. She was running all over the place. I didn’t have any tubes on me so I used my empty Yeti cup to capture her. She’s all settled in and even laid eggs today. I’m so excited to start this journey into ant keeping!

It’s practically impossible for me to find any other species of ants..RIFA has taken over. There are those who wish for exotic tropical species, but I just want to find anything else other than RIFA. So many cool species in Houston....the fire ants pushed almost all of them away.. ;-;
