Hi, I was wondering what was the range of the leaf cutter ants Atta texana in Texas, but more specifically in the Western part of Texas. I also wanted to know the general description of the area where they set up their nests.

Thanks.

I don't see them (on a map) any farther west than Midland, and any farther North than Dallas.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.

Thanks for letting me know! I wanted to know where they can be found so I can catch one next year. I know someone is selling them on the GAN Project in Texas, but they're about more than $325 and they are over on the East side of Texas.
