I've been looking for a queen for almost a year with no luck. Today I'm going back to the park and go queen hunting again. Where should I look? I do live in the desert.

I can't tell where you are from, but will assume North America? If that's correct, some species of Lasius fly in September. I haven't seen any yet, but I'm really hoping to catch some this year myself.

Here is a chart of nuptial flights both globally and in North America. https://crazyants.de/nuptial_formiculture/
