I Found A Species that Shouldn't be Flying

Okay. I'm so confused right now. Prenolepis imparis should be the only species flying in North America right now, right? Well I found three black elates of an unknown species over the weekend (two queens, 1 male, and the male is huge btw). They are certainly not Prenolepis. I don't know how another species could be flying this month. But my guess is that the strange weather in the bay area (my residence), is causing a change in the biological clock of the ants, changing their nuptial flight schedules. What are your guys' thoughts on the matter?

That is not true. Myrmecosystus, Camponotus, and Dorymyrmex have all flown in California.

Yes. By "have flown", I mean this year.

I agree, I have seen Solinopis in Febuary this year and I caught my Camponotus queen march 26 last year. I have seen the Pogo's out working already this year and I beleive last year I didn't see them out until late March early April. I'm hoping to be home during their nuptuals. Would love to get me one of them.

Why does AntsCanada say that Prenolepis imparis is the only species flying now?

He's from Toronto, Canada and was making generalizations for the entirety of the US and Canada. I believe later on in his nuptial flight video he goes on to explain genera from more specific areas. I am unsure as to why he makes it seem this way, though.
If you want them identified, post pictures and measurements in millimeters or to the closest 1/16th of an inch.

Yeah, the nuptial flight schedules posted in that video are only a tiny slice of what goes on. There are more than 80 genera in the United States, and I think he only covers like a dozen of them?
