Cal, make sure that you're putting them in shared albums with google photos if you want to use google. I've also made the error of trying to share images directly from my inbox.

It is very difficult to dig up a colony and actually get the queen and alive. I'd just advise waiting for nuptial flights. I think it's cooler to watch a queen develop her colony from the beginning personally.
