Hey guys! I just got back from a trip to Texas! The local species of Solenopsis were flying the whole time I was down, It was a really cool experience!! It's been pretty wet and humid here in CO, should we be going anting tomorrow?

If its sunny I definitely am planning on it! Really looking forward to a possible nuptial flight, its been rainy for about 3 days now.

I haven't seen anything, maybe still a bit cold for nuptial flights. It's been around 60°F where I am.

Also have yet to see much, I did see three pogonomyrmex alates(harvester ants), they were just peeking out of the nest and acting as workers.

XD I really hope to be able to catch some fertile queens, already found a bunch of alates without wings at a pogonomyrmex nest, does that mean they've mated?

PS will be uploading pics hopefully, takes a lot of time i just dont have at the moment though
PPS saw them today

also the last picture is one of the wingless alates in a nonpermanant storage I had her in, I didn't know whether they had mated so I snatched a couple up just in case
 :? :)
