Hi, I've recently wanted to start up a colony of citronella ants. I am absolutely in love with their vibrant yellow color, and decent size. I was wondering if anyone might know where and when I might find these queens. I live in the United States, New York. Can anyone help me out?

They have their nuptial flights between April and June. But they are parasitic, so they will be very difficult to raise.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

I don’t think I would be able to correctly start a parasitic colony. Do you know if there are any other ant species with a more vibrant color that are native to New York?

People have succeeded very rarely, but you need a host colony. Maybe Formica pallidefulva, but I'm not sure if they are super bright.
