I haven't managed to find any yet, not that I have a lot of time to look. I haven't spotted any dead alates though which bothers me. I know I have Camponotus in the area, as I see the occasional worker or major.
I just got lucky I guess. They are quite easy to spot from far away because they're so big.

I am starting to think they are not camponautus. They are large and black. About 1.75 cm long.

I'm not sure what else they would be if they aren't a camponotus species. I'm far from being an expert, but a black queen ant that big sounds exactly like our carpenter ants. I'm up to 4 right now, which is the max amount of them that I plan on taking, and so far 2 have laid eggs, but that was a few days ago and I'm gonna try my best to only check them once a week. Can't wait until formica pacifica starts flying since that's what I really want, the camponotus are pretty much just my backups

What is flying in the West right now? I really don't want to keep camponautus. I don't have the patience.

Still haven't found a tetramorium, but found like 6 or 7 more camponotus queens at my work yesterday, so I'm loaded up on those. Didn't expect them to still be flying this late, though.
