It's been raining all night in NW Ohio, suppose to stop sometime this morning and get up to 70+, perfect time to find newly mated queens today?

They flew here in Southern Illinois/St. Louis area yesterday or the day before. I've found one dead queen and tones of dead drones but not a single queen. I've looked everywhere under every log and under leaves all over the place. I've probably cover a good 30 square meters

Re: OH-KY-IN-IL-MI Nuptial Flight Sightings
I've scouted about 50+ Prenolepis imparis colonies and all of them have emptied out their drones and female alates. I've looked everywhere from under leaves, logs, rocks, and holes in the ground and all I've found are 3 dead queens being eaten by aphaenogaster colonies, dead drones, in webbing, live drones still running around, or delated wings but no living queens anywhere. Should I assume the surrounding colonies either ate or inducted them into already established colonies?

I know I'm not from around your places but I see queens come out of there nest and just hang around until they die for Prenolepis imparis.

Re: OH-KY-IN-IL-MI Nuptial Flight Sightings
really? the queens just die? Then are they alates or maybe a less fertile/productive queen in a polygenous colony?
