Just found a queen in romney indiana about 15 min ago not sure if species can't get a good picture romney is about 45 min north west of indy lol

]No I don't I'm really new to this soo me identifying it isn't going to be good but I found it on my wood fence by my chicken coop it's a dark orange /black about 3/8 long the body is an 1/8 wide

It's probably lasius. I'm pretty new to this hobby as well, no sweat. Also, for others watching this thread, I want to know if collecting queens from their claustral chamber without any visible eggs or brood is ok. I found one of my lasius queens under a rock this way. Please let me know. Thx .

Well most Lasius won't lay they're eggs until the coming spring so I can't imagine it'd be horrible...
