I just ate my words and my heart about 30 minutes ago. Who should I see crawling on the pavement but a queen, size and color indicating none other than the Lasius neoniger.

And here I am with another 5 hours on my shift and nothing to put her in. So now she is gone.

But atleast you know what one looks like and how they behave out in the open.

Should have grabbed her in my hands and begged my bosses to give me something to keep her in. No luck since that single sighting. :cry:

That's too bad. I actually might sell one of my lasius(At least I'm pretty sure they're lasius) queens if they give any brood.

Saw a Myrmica queen wandering around my house yesterday. I tried to pick her up, but she crawled up my shirt then jumped off me. Don't give up hope yet!

I don't think so. It might be more difficult since less queens are flying at this point, but I think it's possible.
