So seems to be a late small camponotus flight here in central new York state. On lunch now and found one crossing the road and this morning at 11 one was crossing a gravel path.

Yesterday, I saw a ton of male alates at my friend's house in the late afternoon. I even had 4 or 5 land on me. Unfortunately, I didn't see any queens, and I also didn't have any containers on me.

I made the exact same post in the PA nuptial flight sightings thread: My mom told me that her friends in Westchester county NY saw a massive citronella ant (Lasius social parasite sp.) nuptial flight, so large that they couldn't go outside without being hit by the alates. Sorry I'm late, this was actually a few days ago.

Re: New York Nuptial Flight Sightings Thread
Yesterday and today there were huge nuptial flights of Lasius sp. social parasites (possibly umbratus but idk). Yesterday, I saw a bunch of workers above ground (unusual for the generally subterranean "citronella ants") protecting the alates as they left the nest. I lifted up a leaf, and I found a dealate queen, which I hope is the queen of that colony. I collected her, and put her in a test tube with around 25 workers.
