If you're near Shadyside, Pittsburgh, get out there now! I've caught five flying around a local park over the past 10 minutes! One even landed on my face, LOL! I've seen about 7 more that I couldn't catch, they were flying too high.
Will post pics later to help folks ID!

Here are the beauties! (I take this pill bottle with me to catch them and bring them home before putting them in their test tubes.)

I posted an ID thread here, if any of you happen to know what species these queens are:

I hope you all make some good finds soon!!

Take a peek outside on any windless days above 70 degrees, and you may find some late fliers.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.

I'm hoping for it! I'm in Central New York and we got big storms last night as well. Have you seen any Lasius neoniger queens out yet, I'm hoping to get a few!!! This is my first year ant keeping!
Founding:
-3 tetramorium queens
-1 Formica queen
-4 groups of acorn ant queens (they're polygenous)
Super excited to start this amazing hobby :D
