Wow, incredible colony Shane! Will we get to see some video of your complete setup sometime soon? What is your estimate on the size of the colony?

i also have the same ant, was wondering the temp you have them at and there set up to. i see u in uk like i am and with our weather etc am really intrested in ur set up as my queen which ive had since last sep is hard to keep at the right temp but now that i have a brand new heating system for my house ( as of yesterday) iam hopping i can get her to lay prober. she did lay last year but tube mishaps and near fatal drowings ended her eggs.

Colony size jumps up to over 1700 to end of summer then drops almost hath in winter to around 1000.

If set up was bigger thy could expand there size even more, But as there are, Thy been happy in there set up now
for almost 6 years and I did have to get a bigger nest as thy did have a population boom in there small starter nest
in just 3 months.

THis is there set up and I always keep nest dark and video was taken in Jan 2014 when I decided to then lay
there nest flat cos thy not good climbers if thy rush.

For 2 years now I layed there nest flat and it seems better for them.

I keep a soft hand towel around there nest, So nest keeps warm all year around.
