I was not ready for the workers of my largest Myrmecocystus mexicanus colony to try an escape the second I pulled the cotton out when feeding them, but they did... I had around 10 workers running around on my hands so I had to put the test tube down on the desk to collect the workers attacking me. I let them roam free for like five minutes on the desk before collecting them all with an aspirator and placing them into a foraging container.
