I recently caught a Tapinoma sessile colony from the wild. They recently underwent a move, and all the brood I caught have developed, I have yet to see her lay an egg, but I bet she will, she is probably still stressed from the capture and move, but she has 12 workers to help her out, so we will she how this turns out, pictures and updates as they come!

My Tapinoma sessile are doing great. Unfortunately, there has been a very bad accident. A loss of 5 workers might not seem to be a problem, but in a colony this small, 5 workers means the world. This accident was entirely my fault. The substrate I gave them is not good for these ants. They have a very hard time gripping. At one point, there was a bit of a landslide, and 5 of the workers got buried never to be found again. Believe me I tried. I will move them into a new setup with acceptable substrate, to make sure this is not a threat any longer.

Oh that sucks, what substrate did that to them? Also, did you try shifting the substrate around to find them? That usually works.

Yeah, I did, but it was no use. They are so tiny, at this point I could never find them. It was a very fine, very dry sand. They could not grip onto it very well.

I removed the outworld, and am just keeping them in a test tube like any small founding colony.
