Re: Cale's Camponotus pennsylvanicus colony
I have found places that sell screen mesh but it's pricey kinda. Like a 12 by 12 inch piece is like $15. I know that's a decent size piece for what we use it for but in regards to making an outworld it wouldn't be that much.

Some nicely developing brood updates. I'm not 100% sure if the pupa has an ant in it or is leftover from the last workers to emerge. As you can see they aren't very good at cleaning up their area. But it does look like there is one in there.

...she is so pretty...I have 3 Camponotus subbarbatus queens, 2 of which have workers and the 3rd still founding but I really want a Camponotus Pennsylvanicus...yes, I'm jealous to say the least lol

She reminds me of the Xenomorph queen from Aliens so that's what I've taken to calling this colony.

Re: Cale's Camponotus pennsylvanicus colony
I'm keeping my simple outworld until the colony grows larger, but I finished my larger outworld tonight.
Re: Cale's Camponotus pennsylvanicus colony
Holy cow man, that is a fantastic Outworld! My queen is still founding, but I'm definitely wanting to create an outworld similiar to a level of expertise such as yours.
Hi I'm Jack, How are you?
Re: Cale's Camponotus pennsylvanicus colony
The outworlds are not difficult to create. I used a field and forest biome kit for this one with some local items. Used the ground mix and let it harden around the tunnel tubes that I installed prior to pouring in. Let it harden a bit and then placed my large rock in it and let it harden the rest of the way. I left it a week before I did anything else. I got some local dirt out of my yard and baked it for an hour to kill anything in it. Mixed it with water to make a paste to spread on top of the grout (not too thick just gives it a natural look when it dries). Then I took local sand and baked it as well and spread it on top of everything (not too thick again you don't want them nesting in it). Then I just tore up the fake plants and sticks and placed them where I thought they looked good. You can message me with any questions when you are ready to build.

From the looks of it, you don't think your colony will move under that rock do you? It does seem to have some space under it but over all I really like it. Look really natural
